The Great Adventure Lab is an after-school science enrichment program offering our classes in 50+ schools in the D.C. area. We’ve taught thousands of kids how to write their first robotics programs or video game programs (or both!). We also teach science, engineering, electronics...and more! We do it all with SMALL class sizes with a student to adult ratio of 7:1 or better. Our goal is to make science, technology, engineering, and mathematics irresistibly FUN for the next generation.

You can read all about our classes and birthday parties  at  The site includes plenty of reviews and photos!

We are an LLC based in Silver Spring, MD. We are fully insured and our instructors have passed background checks including FBI and state fingerprinting.

Here are mini-descriptions of our offerings at Cold Spring ES.  Please see classes  for complete details, including photos!  Room numbers TBD. Instructor will send welcome email several days before class.

Intro to Robotics A and B  are two independent classes. Same curriculum, different projects.  Take one or both in any order!

Here’s a fun introduction to the world of robotics and mechanical engineering, designed especially for grades 1 and 2.  We’ll learn what programs do and how to write our own.  Each class meeting, we’ll build a different project and then use motors, sensors, and our own programs to bring our creations to life!  Projects include drawbridges, sliding fortress gates, motorcycles that pop wheelies… and more!

Areas of Exploration: Robotics, Programming, Mechanical Engineering

Class Format: Seven 60-min. meetings, once per week.

Tuition: $125 per student, min 11 / max 14 students, 1 instructor, 1 aide. Parent aide for full class gets free tuition.

3-D Design, Grades 4-5

Students will sharpen their spatial awareness as we learn how to use 3-D software to bring our ideas to life! Students will design their own objects, which they print on a printer. We’ll also bring our own 3-D printer to class to play with and print some of our simpler objects.

Areas of Exploration:  3-D Spatial Visualization, Design,

Class Format: Seven 90-min. meetings, once per week.

Tuition: $195 tuition plus $30 materials fee per student, min 9/ max 10 students, 1 instructor, 1 aide. Parent aide for full class gets free tuition.
